Ganesha: Ganesha also known as Ganapathi is worshipped as a remover of all impediments. There are many myths associated with Ganesha's birth, how he came to have the elephant head and why he holds a broken tusk in his hand. One of the more popular myths says that Ganesha's mother Parvathi went to take a bath and left her son to stand guard at the door. Shiva the father came by and wanted to enter the bath house. He was stopped by his son.

Enraged Shiva cut off his son's head. To pacify Parvathi he replaced Ganesha's head with that of an elephants, the first that came to hand. Whatever maybe the origin of the elephant head, this deity is very attractive to both children and adults alike. The pot bellied Ganesha has a rat for his vehicle and is the benevolent deity of the Hindu pantheon.
